Relishing Your Being You: Rebirthing

I can still remember my first experience of holding my first grandnephew in my arms. He was only a few months old then. What gripped me was that precise moment he laid his head on my shoulder in total abandon. I cannot tell you what that did to me! I just knew that I wanted to protect him and shield him from anything that would harm him in any way. That experience had more deeply entrenched me in the inner child work that I do.

Healing the Inner Infant in us may be a long process inasmuch as woundedness in this stage may go back to as far as the prenatal stage where whatever our mothers went through while bearing us in their wombs may have such deep-seated impacts on our prenatal selves.

The therapeutic process of rebirthing was primarily practiced to remedy detrimental physical, emotional and behavioral effects at this prenatal stage. It is a procedure involving primal cathartic work with infants to bodily release stress or toxic effects of chemical imbalances experienced in the womb. Some orphanages and neonatal health professionals provide their infant wards this emotional release and body work.

In cases where this was not done or successfully carried out, it is never too late to do the same process even in our adult years.

Since the inner child process has come to the consciousness of most cultures, there is no dearth of materials on this matter anymore. We witness a proliferation of self-help books on this concept. The bottom line is, help is available for anyone desirous of healing in this area.

You have no control over your biological birth, but you can choose to be reborn and renewed and how your rebirth and renewal would be.
