Made in God's Image and Likeness

As I was processing a small group in an inner child workshop, one lady who admitted that she came from a very dysfunctional family was asked to affirm her innate goodness. Despite the group's encouragement and support, she could not bring herself to say "I am good!" because in her mind, that was a lie. It took us close to an hour to bring her around to finally embrace this sacred truth and when she did, we could not stop her from dancing around the room to celebrate her triumph over her self-defeating beliefs.

That we are made in the very image and likeness of God is hard to digest for most of us. We may pay lip service to such a concept and yet maintain our "Oh yeah, right but..." attitude. We carry within this deep sense of unworthiness and ungodliness.

In my experience of walking with so many people in their journey of healing and recovery, I have been witness to countless miracles of healing. There are many ways of responding to God's grace as there are people. What is common in the healing miracles I have witnessed is the person's willingness to open himself or herself totally to God in self-surrender and the unwavering decision to truly love the self God has given each one.

This unequivocal surrender and acceptance of our powerlessness is a spiritual leap of faith and trust in the Higher Power, the God of our history, our destiny, and our life journey.

Make an act of surrender to the God who desires nothing less than your absolute restoration to original grace, to the perfect divine design that brings about the true peace, joy, love and spiritual fulfillment in your life.
